Most mornings I hear the NYC and tri-state traffic reports that include the very important status of the George Washington Bridge which is vital to commuters and travelers between New Jersey and NYC. Earlier this morning I heard traffic was moving well on this holiday though often there are big delays getting across. According to the Port Authority of NY and NJ, 102 million vehicles cross the bridge annually.
President’s Day was originally established to celebrate our first President’s birthday and I couldn’t help but wonder how many other bridges in the US are named for George Washington.

George Washington, 1st US President
Down the rabbit hole I went Googling. I was disappointed that I couldn’t find any bridges, aside from the one in NYC, named for the Father of Our Country. There’s a bridge in Seattle officially named the George Washington Memorial Bridge but goes by the name the Aurora Bridge. Admittedly, my search wasn’t extensive so there might be other bridges out there. Can you let me know if there are?
In the meantime, Happy President’s Day!
Update: There’s a Washington Bridge in Providence, RI.
