Crossing in My Sleep?

Crossed the Rip Van Winkle Bridge as if in a dream right along with Rip.  No anxiety whatsoever.  Maybe it’s all the writing about bridges that’s put me in a trance?  Maybe I’m too focused on taking a few pictures?  A good distraction perhaps.

The Rip Van Winkle Bridge crosses the Hudson River about 130 miles north of NYC and connects Hudson and Catskill, NY.   Photo by Liz.

I like the symmetry and industrial look of the cantilevers. If the quality were better I could see making it into a larger print.

Of course the Rip Van Winkle is named for the Washington Irving character who slumbered for years in the Catskill Mountains waking up to a completely different world around him.  While I don’t think I’m magically waking up a different person without a fear of bridges, I do think recent crossings haven’t felt so stressful.

Exiting the bridge through the quaint plaza into Catskill feels like you’re entering another time … a tranquil, bucolic place.

    • Hi there! Yes! Write about your claustrophobia… it’s amazing what you learn about yourself when you explore your fear and write it all down. Thanks for reading my blog!
